18-year-old Sahra is excited to start her new job as a disability support worker, 11-year-old Ahmed would rather stay home and watch Naruto again. Sahra is optimistic, chatty and wants to make a difference. Ahmed is bored, hates school, and wishes she would shut up and let him read. Sahra tries to fight bureaucracy, Ahmed tries to remember his friend's names and get 3/20 on his spelling test, and every Thursday for four years- they go for a drive. "Car Rides With Ahmed" is a verbatim piece of theatre based on the eight years of learning, friendship and anime. Written and devised with neurodiverse young people.
