Passing is "oh! I didn't know you were, you know..."
Passing is the relief people feel when they ask about your last name before they say That Racist Thing.
Passing is something that Sara is great at. White people think she's white, Arabic people think she's Arab. Easy! Well, sort of. On the one hand, she avoids a lot of racism. On the other hand, she hears what people really think. People sort of get that you can be culturally but not religiously Jewish. Sara's trying to do the same with Islam.
Sprouting from the Improve Silence initiative "Conversations with the Faces of Islam", Passing is a culmination of stories from biracial women growing in up Australia, and how they negotiate the grey areas between sexuality, religion, racism and family.
